I am lucky enough to be one of the proud owners of The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park New Jersey. My boyfriend Lance Larson and myself took over an abandoned Asbury Park landmark 5 years ago and with the help of our partners resurrected it into the great Asbury Park hotspot it is today!!! My favorite aspect of having the club is the many benefits we are able to do for many different causes including animal shelters, cancer benefits, aids awareness, boys and girls clubs, and countless others. Anytime we can help out a cause we are happy to open our doors and with the help of Lance's many musician friends we always have a very successful event.
Stop in and say hello---We are on the corner of Ocean and Fifth in Asbury Park. NJ. across the street from the world famous Asbury Park Convention Hall. Our grill opens at noon 7 days a week and we have a great patio bar and 5000 sq ft airconditioned night club with a killer sound system! We are available for party rentals and also have a VIP lounge with a beautiful fish tank and baby grand piano. Our entertinment lineup for the upcoming months is great including Leon Russell July 21 which is a benefit for the Asbury Park Boys and Girls Club, July 18 B Street Band, July 24 a Doggy Fashion Show benefiting Wag On Inn and Monmouth County SPCA, and Sept 1 Gary US Bonds!
I grew up on the Jersey Shore in a large family- 4 brothers and 1 sister. After graduating Red Bank Catholic High School I went to Switzerland for 2 years to go to college. I spent every weekend traveling around Europe---My favorite destinations were Italy, Spain and the Canary Islands. I guess this instilled my love for traveling because when I returned to the States I started working as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines. I flew for 17 years and after starting off in New York I transfered to Miami and spent the next 18 years living in Fort Lauderdale. What a great job! Most of my trips were to California and I loved going out there!
On my days off I bartended at many of the great clubs in Fort Lauderdale and South Beach and even worked for the Miami Dolphins for awhile. My friend and I had a plant business and provided plants for the new hotels and clubs in South Beach. At that time there were only 5 clubs there!I had a great time but decided to put the brakes on and came back to Jersey in '96. I work with my brothers in a trash and demolition business and have dedicated my life to many worthy causes, especially involving animals.
I am lucky enough to have a great little family of pets of my own. Lance and I have 3 dogs, 2 cats, a white dove, 8 box turtles, a baby rabbit and a 5 ft iguana! All rescues!!!
