At the end of the Western World’s first millennium, sea rovers and pirates calling themselves Vikings pillaged the coasts of Europe. In 2008, the V. I. Kings are poised to do similar things to the ever-expanding landscape of Hip-Hop. The V.I.Kings bring to Hip-Hop what the original vikings brought to the world: a love of poetry and culture and a raw, reckless abandon when it comes to the pursuit of material gain. V here now. V.I. stands for Virtually Indestructible or Verbally Invincible KINGS. Since 1998 the V.I.Kings been hitting the streets hard with banger's, and now it's still no stoping them. Although you see only 3 members of the V.I.Kings there are many mainly coming from Southwest and West Philly. The V.I.Kings put out plenty of EP's but most of them was recorded mixed and mastered primarily at the legendary Sigma Sound services. It is said that the V.I.Kings have almost 250 songs already pre-recorded. These V.I.Kings rock a party as easily as they rip mics and whack MCs. The Kings are part and product of the re-emergence of Philadelphia as a central site in the Black Music World. They’ve been busy doing shows since late 1999/early 2000 including sets at Club Egypt, Cloud Nine and The Foundation in Philadelphia, The Temple University 2000 Spring Fling, The 2000 Penn Relays, The Fall 2000 Lincoln University Homecoming and the Kutztown College’s Fall 2000 homecoming. Once you get a feel for their styles (plenty of athletic allusions mixed with pure illadelph street codes) You’ll choose your own favorites, but Manuva Black, VHS, and Dy-Nasty are prepared to raid the industry and represent Philly Hip Hop at the next level.
