Monet Guoyette is a singer/songwriter from Massachusetts. A primarilly self-taught vocalist and piano player, she surrounds herself with musicians, gleaning from them what knowlege she can. After writing her first song at age 15 Monet realized she could reach people in a deeply personal way, much as she had been reached by her own musical idols.
"At first it was weird. There were people who would sing my songs out loud, as if they were real songs, and not just something I had made up. It took me awhile to see that that's what songwriting is."
Over the next few years, Monet set herself to the task of unscrambling the puzzle of music and conditioning her fingers for muscle memory. She experimented with many different styles of music. First came Country, then Folk and Bluegrass. Finally, she began to experiment with Jazz. There came Dixieland and Big Band, Funk and Blues. Jazz had opened the door to a greater understanding of music on the whole, and led her steadily toward Gospel, with whom she is now enjoying a gleeful love affair.
While working on her debut album, "The Eyes Have It" (scheduled for release this January) she performs a solo acoustic set several times a month.
Monet is also curently working on a band project, performing keyboards and vocals on Rock covers. Together with Marc Thalasitis (formerly of Syndicate) Pete Maguire and Barry Magliffe they will be appearing as "RGB".
