My Interests

My newfound love? Traveling! I've been to China and now there is no stopping me. Next up? Scotland and Greece 2007!

I'd like to meet:

Jesus and Anne Frank. I'd also like to shake hands with Oprah, Bono, Nelson Mandella, and whoever invented post-its.

Music:

If I wasn't so determined to work in the mental health field, I would have found a way into the music industry somehow. I love to play piano. I own a guitar, although I'm not very good at playing it. And I like to compose and write my own songs. When it comes to what I listen to, I like just about everything, but mainly, I'm a lyric girl. The lyrics of a song is what draws me to an artist. Some of my favorites are Patty Griffin, The Weepies, Death Cab, Holly Brook, Imogen Heap, Gomez, Tori Amos, Tegan and Sara, Sarah McLachlan, Lisa Loeb, Nada Surf, Sublime, Patrick Park, Rachel Yamagata, Aimee Mann, Dashboard Confessional, David Gray, Chantal Kreviazuk, The Format, Emmylou Harris, Mat Kearney, The New Pornographers, The Postal Service, Regina Spektor, Weezer, and my all time favorite band, U2. When I'm raging mad or I need some venting music, I put on some Nine Inch Nails, Fat Boy Slim, DJ Tiesto, or Blink 182. And sometimes I just like a song thats dumbed down and easy to learn and fun to sing and dance to. For example, anything by the Spice Girls! Ha!

Movies:

My favorite movie is, obviously, The Wizard of Oz. Has been since I was a kid, probably always will be because I've come to appreciate the whole "there's no place like home" thing. I like movies that make me laugh! And I love the romantic, girly movies, too. Some of my favorites? LOTR Trilogy, Pride and Prejudice, The Holiday, The Notebook, Muriel's Wedding, Amelie, Liar Liar, Big Daddy, Sleeping Beauty, Hope Floats, Shrek, Singles, Reality Bites, and Little Miss Sunshine.

Television:

Gilmore Girls! The KissMore kissing...My favorite show...I'm totally addicted to G.A.!MCDREAMY!!

Books:

The DSM-IV...just because its like having a new body part I can't leave home without now that I'm going to be a counselor of some kind. Any Brit Chick Lit, Harry Potter, LOTR, Memoirs of a Geisha, She's Come Undone, Fall On Your Knees, The Good Earth, Little Women, and I'm currently reading The Time Traveller's Wife. I'm known to have up to 3 or 4 books going at the same time and I'll read just about anything I can get my pretty little hands on.

Heroes:

God, my grandma, my parents, the A Troop 1st Cav 9th Division Vietnam squadron, Martin Luther King Jr, Oprah, Bono and anyone who is strong enough to face the hard stuff head on.
