About Me

I don't mind having to flip a record at the conclusion of each side.I have the wanderlust.I like to discover.I once left a pile of chalk pastels on my brick window ledge after a night of drawing the city scape, and it rained. The pastels half-melted, and, even though they were ruined, I couldn't bring myself to clean them away. The composition of how they'd melted and strewn was too engaging and delightful. I watched them slowly decompose for the 14 more months I lived in that two-bedroom on Hudson street. Everyday I'd check on them, like a plant--I'd tend to them. I'd take pictures. On the right kind of day, they could even make me cry. They became my favorite picture of beauty. If anyone understands why this has become one of my favorite metaphors for life, we should be friends.I paint: (www.julietteshimkin.com) And I take pictures: (www.flickr.com/photos/julietteshimkin/)
