Dan Ford grew up in Pasadena, Texas until he was sixteen, when he and his family then moved to Waveland, Mississippi. It was at the young age of 18 that Dan picked up his first guitar. By the age of 23, Dan had come back to Texas.
Dan has collaborated with many other musicians in the past. His only band experience was a project called The South. They played consistently for almost two years before Dan left the band. Carl Perkins, Brian Wilson, Steve Earl, Jackson Brown, Carol King, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Lisa Morales and Shake Russell are just a few musical heroes that influence Dan's approach of songwriting. He currently collaborates with songwriter and friend Larry Lewis Moon.
Dan is a songwriters songwriter. Dan continues to write and play, making new friends wherever he ends up along the way. When asked what he enjoys most about songwriting, Dan says" What I like best about writing is finishing a song after several re-writes, and then getting a good response from total strangers. They like the song without knowing anything about me. That lets me know that the song is good." Dan is currently living in Nashville.
Many individuals have covered Dan Fords songs over the years: Alan Finch, Terry DiStenfano, Brian Evans, and the bands Delirio and The South to name a few. Currently Mark Zeus of Houston Texas is working on a cover of Big Haired Woman (Having a Bad Hair Day). Dan aspires to be a staff writer for a publishing company, and to have one of his songs covered by a major artist.
