About Me
What can I say? I am dog groomer at a local kennel here in Luray. I grew up in a vet office, my mom being a vet and my dad being a groomer. After trying many different trades I kind of just fell into this and I have to say I am quite satisfied with it. It leaves me plenty of time to do what I love most which is playing with my beloved 4 yr old son who is my world. No more long commutes and ten hr days wishing I could be at home. No sir now I work an average of six hr days, drive 5 minutes home and have plenty of time for my boy.
Most of my days are the same. Work, home, play, dinner, maybe TV or a good book, then sleep. The weekends are spent with my father and son, the Matthews super trio. Nothing makes me happier than a cool breeze off a mountain. I love hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, tracking and the outdoors. Generally anything that takes me outside and into the woods. I am not a redneck though, as one might think. I actually have intelligence, am an environmentalist and I also have many skills beyond country living.
I love animals, for dinner or for pets. They all have their purpose. I grew up with my parents having a farm. We had everything from sheep, llamas, steer, rabbits, goats, camels, etc. My mother is a veterinarian, animals were always around everywhere I turned. My dad is a groomer so it was normal to be surrounded by animals at any given period in my life. I have a great family by the way! I am such a family man.
I love hunting, hiking, camping, tracking, occasional drinking, good food, hard work, home cooking, kids, legos..hehe. I love when IA dog comes in who hasn't been in in forever and is totally matted and nasty, and I can shave him down, clean him up and know that I made his life better at least for a while. Then you also have the ones who come in on a regular basis, who you get to know and develop a relationship with, they come running up and are happy too see you and i just cant help but smile. Wood burning, transforming old furniture into beautiful work. Fishing, spending time with my dad - who is the greatest man Ive ever known. Playing with my son who is the heart of me. Just being a Matthews man from Luray. I like to drink only on the weekends, I hate being around loud mouthed drunks. (High school is over guys.) I am very much a hermit, I like staying home and playing with my son, watching movies from the couch. I love most types of music, old rock and some new. I do not listen to country music, hip hop or christian music. I am an athiest/pagan/panthiest . The earth is my Goddess and the woods my church. You could say that I am a true pagan without the robes, candles and naked dancing around the fire.....well ok, maybe if nobody is looking.
I tend to be the silent type of guy, I always figured you learn more by listening than talking. I once was a nuclear engineer but it wore me out. Im just not cut out to live on a submarine with nothing but men. A man needs a woman by his side, not another man. I am not homophobic but it just isn't my choice. Men can date all the men they want, it leaves more women to go around for the rest of the world....haha.
