Twiggy is a Zoetermeer, The Netherlands based skate-core band. Early 2005 the final piece of the dreamteam-puzzle was found in bass-player R0m0. He joined forces with singer/guitarist MacBeer, drummer CasB and (solo-)guitarist Broke to create the fastest and loudest band in at least the region of Zoetermeer.
You wanna know what these guys are like? Hold on tight, here we go:
Macbeer is a maniac when it comes to downstrokes. He likes it fast and tight, while singing like James Hetfield on speed. Then we have Broke, the one man in the band that is wise enough to still be in college. He is the one that comes up with the great riffs, hooks and solo's you hear throughout the songs. No, he won't buy you beer, we didn't name him Broke for nothing. CasB is the loudest in the band, and never afraid of making a joke about poo or pee. Some people never mature, and CasB is their king. Last but not least there's R0m0, instead of blood he's got Red Bull running through his veins. Each show it's a surprise what colour his hair will be, and how close he gets to breaking the speed-record on bass.
All together they are Twiggy, in-your-face-Skatecore, influenced by bands like Bad Religion, Rise Against, Bigwig, Bambix, Slayer and ofcourse: Los del Rio. They once started with 3-chord-punk, but now they've moved to more melodic punkrock and fast melodic kick ass skatecore. It is said they even have some sing-a-longs, so what do you want more?!?! This wild gang's attitude? Positive, straight in your face, and trying to send a message while not forcing to choose sides, but always having fun.
Some of Twiggy's highlights are playing on the main stage of the Boerderij (Zoetermeer) at the Packstock festival, recording and releasing the EP 'Biting the hands that feed' (august 2008), and getting some of our songs played on the radio to 3000-4000 listeners. Played with bands like Sidekickbob, Last Breath Denied, Bound in Blood, Xenobia, Owen Meany and Urine-Sane. As we..ve just started, many, many highlights are still to come.
To finish off with some quotes:
"I just saw you guys are mentioned in 'Boardstein', the largest free skateboard-zine in Germany. In an interview Wick Bambix tells she thinks you're one of the best bands in The Netherlands. I've heard the new songs and that ain't an overstatement. Cheers, Bambix."
Lennert, Ian and Martin from ZZ Rock, a rock-program on local radio: "The songs on the new EP are great!"
