. . . . in other words yes eMpyre plays all the instruments, sings and raps.
I can put action where my mouth is. . . or as my mentor would say, "I don't talk shit - I do shit."
A little background on me . . . 5 years in college radio (DJ, Music Director, Station Engineer) 5 years (at the helm of Galactic Dust Records - where I published music or artwork with MTV (Made), Warner Bros (Four Bros and Smallville), The Daily Show - a street interview on music, 411 VM (music for a skateboard video) Eminem/Obie Trice (worked as a wrangler for "Got Some Teeth" video shoot)
Influences: Beastie Boys, Parliament, Urban Dance Squad, 311, Beck, Herbie Hancock, Rage Against The Machine, God Lives Underwater, Run DMC, Ween, Johnny Cash, Weezer, White Stripes, Nine Inch Nails, James Brown, Eminem, The Crystal Method, Sublime, Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, DJ Shadow, MC 900 Ft. Jesus, 311, Prodigy
Sounds Like: If you could take the front page stories about eMpyre's life and convert them into emotions then disguise them under metaphors and poetry about g33k shit like video games, comic books, space ships, alien invasions, computers and z(ohm)bies. . . over funk, hip-hop, and electronic beats with some sing along choruses. . .the result would be sAMPLE tHE mARTIAN.
Scrape a soul like you scrape a bowl and sAMPLE tHE mARTIAN would be the resin. . . lace that with hip-hop, funk and poetry and you'll have a groovy thought provoking emotional buzz for that act as a +3 skill for computer hackers, tattoo artists, skateboarders, video game €|_33+, comic book headz, and graf writers.
"Sample The Martian drops tracks that push the conventional expectations of hip-hop with old-school beats, psychedelic guitars, analog synths, and abstract lyrics that flow like water from the subconscious of one ungrounded dude." ~Fuze Magazine
