It was her grandmother who first inspired her to paint, teaching her to hold and swirl a paintbrush across a canvas. While her father’s side of the family promoted boundless creativity through art and music, it was her fashion model mother who taught her basic values of love, and the romanticism of physical beauty. Marnel’s fascination with glamour started early growing up in a house full of women and their fixation on make up and weight. During her first years of college, Marnel worked as a makeup artist and beauty consultant in glamorous Orange County, which undeniably inspired her enchanting paintings. While studying painting at the University of Central Oklahoma, Marnel became passionate again about the commercialized notions of glamour and her inventive memories of Southern California seaside culture and kitsch. Aside from painting, Marnel enjoys traveling, luxurious naps and spending time with her family. Marnel is enjoying her newest relocation to the Space Coast of Florida, where she will surely find new inspirations and understanding of cultural ideals of beauty while continuing her love affair with the sea.Glad to make your "Aqua"intence!
