When I awoke this morning
I could hear the rain outside
The distant thunder called
And you moved
Stirred beside me
Still asleep
And I smiled
Lightning struck trhough the sky
And the knock at the door made me jump
The power was out
And the candle's light was my guide
And as I opened the door
I saw you
You were standing in the rain
Drenched only from your tears
You're make up was bleeding
Bleeding..
Just as your wrists
Your delicate wrists
I carefully carried you in
Cradled you in my arms
And told you they were blankets
And you tears told the story
As I gently mended your wounds
I've been to the same places you have
And I did the same things as you
And unlike all the others
I'll help you
I'll save you..
You said that your life
Was dangling by a thread
And I promise you
I'll weave that thread into a golden rope
Of eternity..
And I could feel you smile
Beneath all the pain
..And it gave me wings..
..And you fell asleep
Wrapped in my downy wings..
And as I stroked your hair
I knew I could never leave
