I want to meet interesting people, interesting to me that is. People who like to read and have a developed inner world. Sometimes this is because they were not the most popular growing up? Didn't quite fit in? This is not always the case but someone who took the extra time and energy to developing a mental playground, an "inner world". It fosters independence, creativity and confidence. I like to read and spend a day curled up with a book but also enjoy getting out and taking in the world around me, lately I have been all about my fireplace since I have the downstairs of my house back (remodelling). Exercise to date was almost always a by-product of fun--because I am always active (and some good genes) I seem to stay fit. There is little I respect more than the creative act and intelligent, independent, caring people.
Propellerheads!!!!! Aphex Twin, Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, Indigo Girls, Beastie Boys, trance--when I am working, The Cure, Ben Harper and anything Jazz, Harry Connick, Chemical Brothers, David Bowie, CCR, Beatles, classic rock, Crystal Method Chevelle NIN, Disturbed, Tori Amos, Kittie, Coldplay, Sarah M, PRIMUS, did I say PRIMUS? 80's & heavy metal, Dead Milkmen, Violent Femmes And last but not least my boy K.S. Rhoads. I don't buy REM or U2 but find myself listening to them when they are on. :-)
'Harold and Maude', anything Woody Allen, Monty Python, 'Brazil' 'The Princess Bride', 'Amelee' 'Miller's Crossing', 'O' Brother where art Thou', 'The City of Lost Children', 'The Butterfly Effect', 'Death to Smoochy', Donnie Darko, and yes, I still love 'Good Will Hunting'.
I am more of a movie buff, though I did enjoy 'Sex in the City' and 'The Soprano's' and can spend way too many hours on the original Law and Order or Discovery.
Books: 'Call of the Wild', 'Martin Eden', 'The Sea Wolf' (Jack London),'Gunslinger' (S.King), Wheel of Time' (Robert Jordan), 'Lamb' (Christopher Moore), 'Zarathustra' and anything by Vonnegut. Current reading list: 'The Zahir'--interesting read written for those who are "spiritual but not religious" I think. 'His Dark Materials'--As good as L'engle's 'Wrinkle in Time' series, the more I think about it, it might even be better. 'Freakenomics'--he draws a convincing parallel between the decision of Roe vs. Wade and the impressive and rapid decrease in violent crime in the early 90's--I was enthralled. 'Lamb' by Christopher Moore--It is the gospel according to Biff, Jesus' childhood pal. On par with Vonnegut as far as humor is concerned.Oh yeah, and Dr. Seuss.
My brother, Roland Deschain, Doc Holiday & Bugs Bunny, ok it is really Bruce Wayne but I didn't want to admit it :)
