About Me

Brian Fife and Band could best be described as pop-rock-lounge-retropianocore ...or maybe it's best not to categorize them but to enjoy them for the intriguing musical creation they are. A Brian Fife and Band show is a unique blend of high energy power pop, thought-provoking and sometimes humorous lyrics, and really bad dancing. Brian currently has two full-length releases, both produced by Joe Dilillo. The most recent, "So Nice To Be With You" offers a treasure trove of sonic delights and goes way beyond what one might expect from an independent pop recording. Brian writes most of the material and finds inspiration from just about anything. Topics range from vacationing in a resort town called Hel, to the last player chosen in the NFL draft, to a day where nothing happens at all.
Brian Fife and Band is currently working on a new CD of all originals. Recording took place in March, and the CD will be released at a rockin' live concert on June 13. You can get updates on how it's going from Brian's blog.
A Brian Fife live set will always feature originals plus some cool covers, such as a lounge version of the theme from Spiderman and other oddities. Come check us out live; it's loads of fun!

Lessons from a 10 foot Jesus

In the mid 90s, a young adult prayer group of which I was a member organized a series of coffee houses in the basement of the church where we met. My job was to book the acts. We always tried to have ...

Embrace the Cow

When I was nine, my family moved to Palatine, IL and one of the very first things I remember noticing was that our subdivision was directly behind a restaurant with a very large statue of a cow in fro...

Adventures in Dining

When it comes to diet and food choices, I find that way too many Americans are cheating ourselves, especially those of us who live in a culturally diverse area. With such a dazzling array of amazing c...

5 things I hope I never hear in church again

1. "The youth are the future of the church"- Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they here now? If they're the future, but not the present and we don't challenge them and allow them to take their ...

A Roadkill what???

Ah, road kill. Always topical. You can pretty much deduce the speed of an animal, as well as its adaptability of making quick and effective decisions when faced with an oncoming car by how many of its...

Attack of the Fake Jesus

Yes I know it sounds like a really messed up matinee horror movie from the 60s. It's not. It's just a thought I had on a billboard campaign I have seeing lately. A local mega church has been advert...

Okay, I did watch the Olympics...

You may recall in a previous blog that I basically said the Olympics is rife with cheating and had lost its meaning and I would be more likely to be pulling spider webs out of my cat's whiskers than w...

Who’s happier- Men or Women?

I recently received this in an email, and though some of it does not apply to me, for the most part I agree with it. That said, I am a man so of course I have to fight back with a response, which you...

My Brothers Record Collection and Why I am the Way I Am

When it comes to music and perhaps life in general, I am permanently warped, and I'm pretty sure that my brother Greg and his enormous collection of rock albums has at least something to do with it. ...
