Nautik, a native of Denver, Colorado is a rapper/musician who has been making music since the age of 15. His first experience playing actual live music came from elementary school where he learned to play the flute and the piano. Though he had been introduced to music then, he was still initially only an avid listener of commercial top 40 hits at the time. It was not until his stepfather came into his life, around the age of 9, introducing him to underground hip hop, that he began considering being an emcee himself. At first it began as just writing for recreation as a hobby, but the passion followed him all the way into middle school where he began battling other students for fun. Always being the shy-guy, he never truly considered taking music seriously because of the incredible amount of stage-fright he felt whenever he was on stage or in front of large crowds. However, His love for battling eventually overpowered and smothered this fear while driving him to pursue the art-form to its limits. He began entering organized battles and open mics around the city of Denver; eventually leading him to compete at the age of 15 in the 2005 D.M.C Emcee and D.J battle, which calculated more than 500 people in attendance. Slaughtering the fear of being onstage in his first live appearance, he beat 7 emcees out of a 64 man elimination-style competition before he lost, earning him 3rd place and the title of one of the best in the city. Battling would later take him across the U.S to compete in numerous events, the biggest and most recent being Scribble jam in which over 1500 were in attendance in the audience. He again obtained 3rd place in the prelims and fought his way into the main battle where he would lose in the first round. After his experience onstage at the D.M.C. battles in 2005, he began taking music seriously and hitching rides to a studio downtown where he would record to industry beats to hone his skills. In the next few years God laid out the foundation for success by pairing him with one of his best friends and his producer, Concept of Team Green. Later in his high school career he would meet another one of his best friends Quinn and together they all created a small group called the Kool Krue dedicated to the pursue of achieving their dreams of being successful in the music industry and creating an impact, while attempting to be the first to put the city of Denver on the map in the genre of Hip Hop. He began organizing and throwing shows with fellow rap artist Black prez, another best and long time friend, whom he has known for over 5 years. Nautik is inspired by all forms of music and has always been infatuated by the way it can alter ones emotions and affect so many lives. His goal is to affect others and impact lives the way music has impacted him and this idea is what sparks his creative juices allowing him to create his own style of music based off of what he would like to hear. He is shooting for the stars and daring to be different. One thing he would like everyone to know is this: â€œAny ones dreams are never far away as long as you are willing to fight for them. The only question to ask yourself is how bad you want it. Once that is answered, you must be clear on what you are willing to do for it and how much you are willing to sacrifice to achieve something others may not believe you canâ€.
