This may sound like a list of qualities that one looks for in a spouse, but it also describes the heart of Chehalis-bred metal band, Blessed by Falling. The five piece outfit, in addition to their recognized musical integrity and talent, have developed a reputation of friendliness to fans and supportiveness to other bands. Each member is not only approachable, but worth approaching. Abram (screams), Will (guitar, vocals), Michael (guitar, vocals), Caleb (bass), and Keelan (drums), are honest, animated, and as relationally motivated as they are musically driven.Blessed by Falling's live shows have established a devoted local fan base whose own unique audience participation adds to the spectacle: air guitar soloing and double-bass hand motions are not uncommon. Indeed, the crowd's energy almost matches the band's. I said almost. Blessed are known for their vivacious, spontaneous, even chaotic live performances.An uncompromising work ethic has also marked the band's journey. Having maintained the same line-up since 2005, the band released their first EP, 'The Art of Anticipating a Sunrise,' in September, 2007. They also raised enough money through merch sales to purchase their own band van which continues to take them farther and farther from home to new audiences.Musically, Blessed are a fusion of Hardcore, Progressive, and Melodic Metal. Showcasing expressive guitars, piercing screaming, impressive clean vocals, and an accomplished rhythm section, the band blends heaviness and melody into memorable songs.The desire to challenge themselves and write progressive music is exemplified by their beautiful dual guitar harmonies, complex song structures, and layered vocal arrangements. Abram delivers thoughtful and honest lyrics; his forceful throat vocals displaying dynamic range. These are often at play with Will's distinctive and high range clean vocals, sometimes creating call-and-response lines with Michael as well.Although they have a musically diverse approach to their music, the band manages to craft cohesive, ridiculously listenable, melodic songs. Just listen. Or better yet, attend a live show and participate in the musical and personal experience that is Blessed by Falling. Who knows? You just might be blessed by falling in love with their sound.
