I like all different kinds of music, but some songs are always better than others in every type of music and different people have different tastes. I'm pretty open to anything. I've listened to a crazy range of music over the years from to classic rock to metal to hardcore gangsta rap to punk/ska to hippie music to electronic to reggae with lots of stops in between. I would say these days I listen to mostly old school ska and reggae like toots, burning spear, mighty diamonds, heptones and the meditations though I am still partial to ambient electronic and down tempo drum and bass, like Aphex twin, The Orb and K&D. I like lots of chill reggae dub like Augustus Pablo and Lee Perry. I like some hardcore, but the screaming tends to get to me. I like jam bands and love going to live shows of most types. I also like positive hip hop like J5 and Dilated Peoples. I admit I like some radio pop "club" music, I just hate how its so comercial and how the song of the minute is on every station 50 times a day.
I play a bunch of instruments. I wish i had more time and the lack of a.d.d. to concentrate on one. I know a good bit about music theory and can apply it on a bunch of instruments. My favorites are: guitar, melodica, (a mouth piano sounds like a harmonica) and hand drums like a djembe. I also beatbox. I don't know many "real" songs, I just know how the notes and chords relate to each other and kind of make up my own songs. I think its much more creative to make your own music than to simply copy someone else. I like to play with others in a jamish setting. If you know of any good drum circles let me know.
I love watching movies. I definitely think that they are an art form all their own. I have seen tons of movies and liked many of them for different reasons. I consider myself to be somewhat of a critic and I look at things within the movies such as composition that most people don't notice. There are too many good movies out there to even try to make a list. I'm pretty open to anything so I'll probably like whatever it is I see for some reason or another. Technicolor rules. The colors are so bright.
I don't read as much as I would like to, there’s never enough time to go around. I tend to read non-fiction books on a wide range of technical or philosophical subjects. Who wants to live in a pretend world, when there is so much to know about the world around us?
