About Me

Young A.E. Born on the run in the jungles of Laos. As many others fled the countryside to escape the horrific truths of war. I learned that people do not like to leave home, but when you are forced to make a decision, sometimes you must. My parents were brave and ambitious to leave Laos and their families behind to give me and my siblings a chance to have a better life. Upon arriving to America, we settled in Fort Wayne Indiana, before my dad wanted to be closer to our relatives in California. So oneday in 1983 we hopped on the Amtrak destined for California. Once we got to Sacramento, Ca. my uncle Vaung picked us up and got us settled in the southside Sac apartments off of 44 St. by Campbell soup. It was a lot of minorities in Sacramento, a lot of asians of all ethnicities. Later we would move to the northside of Sacramento in the Del Paso Heights area, then eventually to the Strawberry MANORS. We moved to the Manors in 1985. That was a crazy year, mixed that in with a crazy hood, you would soon have all the elements of a troubled life. My mom managed to raised us well eventhough the family lived off of foodstamps and county checks. My pops tried to finish school and get some sort of training but the english language is a monster for old school Laos people, but we still made something out of nothing. It was hard being the only Laos family in an all black hood. Me and my brothers had to fight and get our respect from the other neighborhood kids. Everyone in this world would just like to fit in. It wasn't easy we were too different, but we earned our respect. My hood was like any other hood, crime, gangs, drugs, prostitutes, crooked cops, murder; all this right when you walk out the house. We hid a lot of the dirt we did from our parents. All the gangstas were our rellies and homies from the block. It was hard to avoid people your own parents love. But they never knew, just like they did everything to hide their own struggles, we did too. When you grow up in an environment like the Manors, Heights, Garden Block, shit any notorious turf in Sacramento or any big city for that matter, you destined to get caught up at least one time. Survival of the fittest was an understatement. You either rolled with the program or get dissed by the program. Both my brothers joined an Asian Crip Gang in Sac. I was different cause I repped the hood I was raised in...The Strawberry Manors just for the simple fact I lived there and all the homies was from there. Call it what you want, I call it home. Thru all the bumps and bruises, ups and downs, the pain and struggle, we still manage to stir a sense of hope and dream a little bit. I was able to come up under good O.G.s, mentors, brothers from another mother so to speak (Allen, Wesley, among many of my closest friends a dude can have in a scandalous world (Rick, Nath, O, J$, Ant K., Hawk, Ting, IceCream Man Sang, L.Evans, Somlet, RD, Salet, Phavon, Joker and his fam in Stockton, JSaisaath, Big Lo, Som, Don, BK, JRamey, FT, Tonk, Dee, Phet, RDB, Wes, Mike, Bobby Stay off them bikes dogg; all my homies from the Manors and all over Sac. I didn't forget the support from my rellies thru all this; I played the smart card, cause the Game was dumb, but you gotta respect it or get dealt with in these streets. I'm grown now married to a bombshell with 2 beautiful kids; I gotta give back. Do something positive; I can't let my parents down cause they sacrificed so much just to give us an opportunity. I've seen my cousins and homies locked away for murder, attempted murder, dope cases a dime a dozen, too many unsolved killings, I can go on and on, but I'm sure you heard it before. So I learned to cope, heal, and find a way to maintain my sanity. Basically music is my outlet a way I can leave my mark on a piece of Laos history as it is in America. My nig SAY-SO started this music back in the 9th grade...I remember hearing Tupac's "keep ya head up" and how he captured my whole entire emotion. I knew then that I needed hiphop. It repped us. so now I use it as my tool to spread my ghetto gospel. I was raised in the streets of Sacramento California; northside Sacramento...Strawberry Manors; I got a team24KStudios...Obadiah what up ROCK ON, Ricdiculous dreams don't die homie, J$, OV, BO, Cabbage, PV, young Lek-Roscoe Da Balla holla, Jack Selfish, Baby Ghatti holla, StarCity holla, AceHigh Records holla, RIP Lil Frig; We not industry, we just trying to give back to the streets using the power of words; I want to reach the unreachable and incite a riot thru hood music!
