.. I became interested in wrestling in the sixties. My Dad told me about Gorgeous George. I got to see Gorgeous George on TV and immediately I was hooked. He was throwing golden hairpins to the audience. I don't remember who he was wrestling I just know it was awesome.
I began going to shows at our sports center and saw greats such as Bullet Bob Armstrong, Wild Cat Wendell Cooley, Blade Runners (who later became Sting and Warrior), Rick Flair, and many more. When it became televised in the 70's I was hooked on seeing Exotic Adrian Street, Austin Idol, Rick Flair, Greg the Hammer Valentine, and many more.
Since that time I have traveled to many shows like WCW, Indy shows as far away as North Carolina. I have met the Meastro (known as the Stro now), Burt Fox (who was the owner of UWA), Sexsisto the Latin Lover, Le Fletcha, Savar the Bounty Hunter, and many more.
I have a site that has a wrestling gallery dedicated to wrestlers at http://ladybugsnest.com (can't make it clickable thanks to MySpace's new policy) Ladybug's Nest, come by and check it out :)
I hope the following will answer the questions that have been asked about me and hopefully you will know me a little better from this. :)
I got married when I was 16 and had my daughter when I was 17.
I developed cancer when I was 19 and had to have surgery to remove the cancer. I would never have all the children I had hoped for. The surgery was on Mother's Day. No one (including me) knew that I was with child. This was found out during the surgery. I lost this child but I was thankful I would be alive to see my daughter grow up and have children of her own.
At 23, I lost the vision in my left eye and was informed I no longer had a pupil or iris of the left eye. I decided to keep my eye anyway. lol When I was 25, I underwent 6 kidney surgeries in an attempt to save my left kidney. I weighed 98 lbs at the time and my kidney had to be removed.
At 36, my husband told me he no longer wanted to be married. So we got a divorce.
At 38 or 39 I had to have major surgery and was told I may have to wear a colostomy bag for 6 months. The surgery was a success and I didn't have to wear the bag. lol The surgery lasted 9 hours.
I am 54 now, and have diabetes, Lupus, Fybromyalgia, have had 2 strokes and have COPD. I also have been through some violence in my life.
Why am I telling you all of this? Well, for those who wonder why bad things happened to them in their life, it is intended to be a message of hope.
Bad things happen, but I have this saying that I use when things happen to me. It is simply, you can rise above it and be thankful for what you do have, or you can sink below it and let it tear you apart inside. I choose to fight to rise above it.
You know even though wrestling to the most part is scripted, the pain and injuries they suffer are real. The wrestlers choose to wrestle even tho they are in pain, both physical and emotional pain.
When I had a stroke in 98 and lost my ability to express myself verbally. I would look at a cup for example, my mind knew it was a cup, but my mouth would say crop. lol
Shortly after being home I started my webpages about wrestling. I worked everyday, even playing word games on the internet. I chose to rise above my verbal challenge. lol
My speech has improved and continues to improve. I now can say cup when I mean cup. lol Before my struggle to rise above it, I couldn't remember my grandson's name. Now if I slip up and forget his name ect, he jokes with me and say Oldtimers got me. lol
I have a beautiful daughter and two wonderful grandchildren now. I still have bad things happen to me but I choose to live and enjoy the good things in my life. :) ..
