A mixture of hard rocking riffs, funky bass lines, huge drum fills, and powerful singing, Botfly put their feelings and personalities to music with their new album Emergence, released in late 2008. Held together by a bond composed of many different music styles, this up and coming act believes that they have something special to bring to the table.
In early 2006 the embers of what is now known as Botfly began to ignite. Liz Wood began her music career as a pop solo artist searching for a defining sound that she could call her own. After dealing with many record labels and radio stations she soon realized that hard rock was in her soul. Her brother, Justin, had been involved in many bands prior to Botfly. However, none truly satisfied his musical abilities. Liz and Justin began collaborating with their sister Noelle, and brother-in-law Mike Theriault to compose songs of this type. They immediately exploded into the New England music scene known as "The Liz Wood Band," but they soon realized this name did not fit their style. Soon the band members recruited Joseph Thibeault as their new guitarist and changed their name to Botfly.
Finally with a solid lineup and musical chemistry they began work on a full length album. They sought the help Kent Clemmons, a seasoned sound engineer to help produce and mix their songs. Their album, "Emergence," was released in 2008 and sold on iTunes and Amazon.com. Botfly wanted even more exposure than this, so they decided to release their album to other sites for free, grossing over 2000 downloads and tons of positive feedback.
Ranging from the upbeat sounds of "No Gravity," to the aggressive and melodic sounds of "Endure," their music reaches out to many people and often times find the songs as the subject of their humming or whistling throughout the day. The energy of Botfly's music cannot fully be appreciated until one has experienced them live. The energy given off the stage is transferred directly to the audience resulting in a mob of dancing, singing, crazy people all enjoying themselves.
With these experiences set in Botfly's history, they feel poised to make a breakthrough in their musical careers. More importantly, everyone is encouraged to come to their shows, meet the band members, and have a great time. With their unique sound, Botfly is seeking representations and connections and more opportunities to spread their music around the world, so be sure to introduce yourselves. They try to remember everybody and every fan is important to them.
