Jamey writes songs that are relational to everyone, no matter where they are in life. He sings about pain, struggles, fears, frustrations, questions and doubts, but most of all, the love and hope that can be found in the middle of it all.
Jamey has never been limited to one style or sound either. he has done everything from folk, to country, to rock, to hip-hop and soul and most importantly, he has done it all with excellence.
His inspiration comes not so much from a single artist as much as from life and faith. However, there is definitely a wide variety of performers that have had great impact on developing his love and skill of music. Legends like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and even Bob Marley are to credit. Also, early 90s alternative rockers like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl jam have had a major influence on Jamey’s earlier rock style. More recently, however, inspiration comes from the soulful sounds of artists Anthony Hamilton, John Legend and Amos Lee.
After fifteen years of writing original material and performing in his hometown, Jamey decided to make the move to the big city and take the next step to pursue his dream of music. You can definitely hear a touch of Southern roots in his powerful vocals and unique stylings, but this country boy has got some grit and soul that deserves a listen to. There is a sort of small town charm in his music that will draw you in in an undeniable maturity and originality that will keep you there.
