About Me
MONICA SIERRA, a powerful vocal
performer, began her professional career in Havana,
Cuba, where she was born and raised. At the age of three, she was the youngest member of
the child singing group, Menique. Monica recorded
lullabies and made weekly television appearances while
fronting the group as the lead singer. Growing up,
she received extensive training, attending Havana’s
prestigious conservatory of arts, Amadeo Roldan. At
age 16 she was touring the world, singing for the
all-girl tropical band, Azucar - Cuba’s most popular
band of the mid 90’s.In 1999, Monica immigrated to the United States.
Despite the hardships of leaving her homeland and
confronting life in a new country, she continued
following her passion - music and singing. That same
year, she became the lead vocalist for the band at
“Cafe Nostalgiaâ€, a Latin Club in Miami, Florida,
known for its recognizably talented musicians. She has since worked behind the scenes in the music
industry; composing, producing and performing with
several successful artists and producers including
Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Donato Poveda, Kike
Santander, Estefano, Roberto Levi, Isabel Pantoja,
Giselle, Luis Enrique, Ricardo & Alberto Gaitan, Willy
Chirino, Tito Nieves, Javier Garcia, Jennifer Pena,
Roselyn Sanchez, Patricia Monterola and the All-Star
Celia Cruz tribute band at the 2003 Grammy Awards.
Colaborating with these artists, has allowed her to
become a member of the American Society of Composers,
Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).Living in Miami has broadened Monica's musical style.
She is now concentrating on developing her first solo
project - an innovative musical fusion of traditional
Cuban and Latin rhythms, with pop, rock, reggeton and
R&B. To Monica, this project is about one thing:
creating a fresh new sound that transmits a special
energy.
