About Me

Barack Obama for President!

I'm a punk rock kid at heart. Born and raised in Berkeley, Ca. Now residing in the big bad city of San Francisco. I'm 24, I just recently graduated from SFSU, with BA's in Cinema (Film Production) and International Relations (Intelligence and Security).
I am politically an extremely liberal person, although trying to define myself presents all sorts of problems and contradictions. Thus, it is better to inquire about my reasoning, rather than expand other than "extremely liberal." Because, as with many things in this life, such a term is woefully inadequate and could never possibly summarize accurately my beliefs.

Music is my motivation. At the risk of sounding utterly pretentious and slightly stupid, it feeds my soul and my imagination. It inspires me. I listen mostly to punk rock, but also classic rock, emo, pop punk, ska, reggae, and a dash of acoustic alt rock for good measure. I've also been known for other strange musical deviances, like Ravi Shankar, prog rock, etc. I do "play" guitar and bass, though I have not played in a band in some years. This is something I am always trying half assedly to correct.
I like dogs, I have two.
For someone who claims to be a cinema major, I see surprisingly few feature films.
But really, I'm a nice guy, no really. I am. No joke.
I don't wax poetic about myself very well. I'm just a simple guy making my way through life. I enjoy simple things and try not to get all wrapped up in what everyone else is doing. I'd rather focus on what makes me happy. Life's too short to please everyone, I'd rather be content with myself than to try and please everyone around me.

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros ~ "Johnny Appleseed." Live on Letterman.

What else...? If you wanna know something, just ask.
I also do have a LiveJournal in which I can be found ranting and raving, and generally posting non sensical entries. By all means, feel free to poke around, and comment if you are an LJ user yourself.

My Interests

Punk rock man, I go to lots of shows with locals bands, well ok, I'm broke, so not so much anymore. I pretend to be an intellectual, when I'm really not. Sometimes you might find me reading a book. Although books are not my strong suite. You might find me on other websites ranting away. I post under various IDs on Strummernews , the Ed Schultz Message Board , The Fender Discussion Page , and ActiveBass.com . Those being the sites I frequent most.
As you might have inferred from the above links, I play bass and guitar as well. Although I am by no means a "guitarist" or a "bassist." Haha. I play for my own amusement nowadays. Unfortunately, I am far removed from the band scene, although it is still something I would like to pursue.

I'd like to meet:

Cool people who don't spend more money on clothes than they do on.....other stuff. People that refrain from using the word "boi" and typing LiKe ThIS, cUz it B heLLA anNoyiNg.Eh, whatever, drop me a line. And oh, if you're going to send me a random friend request, please send me an email first, ESPECIALLY IF YOUR PROFILE IS PRIVATE!

Music:

I DO NOT ACCEPT UNSOLICITED REQUESTS FROM BANDS
Everything from Bad Religion to Blink 182, including stuff like Yellowcard, Bane, Link 80, Rx Bandits, New Found Glory, Saves The Day, Jimmy Eat World, Hum, Finch, The Used, The Movielife (!), Sum 41, Pennywise, NOFX, THE CLASH, Less Than Jake, Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros, Johnathan Rice, Howie Day, Foo Fighters, Transplants, The Matches, The Beatles, The Ramones, The Who, The Sound of Animals Fighting, The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Razorlight, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, etc.
I DO NOT ACCEPT UNSOLICITED REQUESTS FROM BANDS! THIS MEANS YOUR BAND!

Movies:

Favorite Movie I tell to other art/film fucks to impress them: Pi
Real Favorite Movie: Waking Ned DivineGenerally, I am a fan of Spike Lee, Woody Allen, D.A. Pennebaker, Michael Moore, Jim Jarmusch, and even John Ford. Although, I enjoy many films across various genres. Ironically perhaps, my taste in film is not as diverse as my taste in music, nor relative to my compatriots in film school.

Television:

The Simpsons of course, and Conan O'Brien...yup, thats about it I think. Family Guy and American Dad when I remember to watch them. Iron Chef, Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, Burn Notice, wrestling, haha, thats about it.

Books:

If I had time to read a book....I'd....well, I don't know what I'd do. Read one I guess.

Heroes:

Joe Strummer, without a doubt. His words, music, and life have had such a profound impact on my own, that it would be impossible to imagine myself as the same person today, had his life been anything but extraordinary. At the risk of sounding over laudatory, Matt Embree of the RxBandits is also somewhat of a hero to me. He is an outstanding musician, a superb and vastly underrated vocalist, and like Strummer, a man who talks the talk and walks the walk...

It all depends on what the defintion of "win" is.

Congratulations are in order for Hillary Clinton and her supporters for last night's PA victory.  Though not unexpected (I personally thought she would win, as did most in the media, as did Obama...

Why Im not supporting Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primaries

I suppose I should preface this by saying that I'd rather have Hillary over any of the GOP candidates (obviously), and if she wins, I would surely vote for her in a tight race.  But as my state i...
