..Grandma, Safuiono SiufanuaGrowing up with grandma was such a task....and that was probably because there was always a task to be done when we go over to grandma’s house. At first, I thought of her as someone who would be hard to live with and understand....I always thought grandma was one woman who was hard to please. I remember grandpa’s story of how they met and got married....I always thought he was the man of all men because he sure had the guts to put up with grandma. As I got older, I learned to understand why grandma was grandma and why she did what she did. Grandma was all about reality....for me, she made sure I knew the consequences before I was even given choices. I guess I could say I learned about life from grandma....she was my preschool teacher and so I learned the basics of life from her. I remember looking forward to going to school every morning and dragging to go home after.I feel blessed to have known grandma when I did....to have spent time with her when I did. I’m more blessed to know that she wanted nothing but the best for me through the tears we shared for my joy and sadness, the laughter over our silliness, and I shouldn’t forget the times when she’s pulled my hair to gear me towards the right direction.I’m sure everyone has their own memories of grandma...their own little moments to cherish...as a matter of fact, even when we went to see her at the mortuary, we continued to reminisce of the times we spent with her as her health deteriorated. As a beneficiary of her beauty, I stand with gratitude to share that grandma was a very beautiful woman. She loved the beauty salons and kept them in business. She loved shopping and kept Wal Mart, Fashion Bug and Dahle’s Fashion in business. Grandma also enjoyed and appreciated a good meal at Chinese Gourmet, Golden Corral, Malo’s and Matiki’s.Grandma loved to bake...and make other things too. I learned to appreciate the kitchen through her...I enjoyed the times I spent baking with her, but for some reason, I always found it hard to clean up after...I’m sure we all have our own little recipe moments with grandma, too. She was always collecting or giving recipes. I think our family all learned to appreciate grandma’s cooking way too much...can you tell? I’m sure our extended family from home will miss her and so will our home ward when ward conference and stake conference come around. She was THE BOMB when it came to cooking.I learned to appreciate music through grandma. In preschool she always played her ukulele as she sang to welcome us to school and throughout the day as we worked and played. I’ve heard her play the piano a few times and she had the most beautiful alto voice...another, which I am a blessed beneficiary of.Grandma had blessed my life more than she will ever know. During the last few weeks of her life, she taught me courage through all her pain...the strength to withstand anything...the love she had for her family. I think grandma hung around a little longer just to make sure her family will be okay without her being here physically...she wanted to make sure we had accepted the need for her on the other side. I’m grateful for the Plan of Salvation and my knowledge of the gospel. I know grandma’s in good hands.Ia manuia lau malaga, Grandma. Faafetai mo faamanuiaga ua e faamanuiaina ai lo’u olaga. E ui o le a misia oe ae ou te talitonu o le a sili atu ona faamanuiaina matou ona ua iai se agelu patino lava mo matou o au grandchildren.I LOVE AND MISS YOU GRANDMA...REST IN LOVE...
