About Me
BONAPHIEDUpon looking at the group name “Bonaphiedâ€, a person immediately makes the connection to the original Latin based adjective “bona fideâ€, which is defined as “something made in good faith without fraud or deceit†or “made with earnest intentâ€. This definition clearly explains the quality and promise of genuine material heard by this young and ambitious Hip Hop/R&B trio. One of the key mantras that Bonaphied believes in is: “We don’t just rap and make music, we write everything you hear and have lived each and every emotion and thought.â€Bonaphied is LaFonte Joe, Jaqua Anderson, and Terrence Anderson, individually known as Tray, Jae Swagga and Young Talent. Arriving full circle by high school, they formed an inseparable Trio and began garnering respect from the streets all the way to the suburbs. Destroying competition at talent shows and successfully creating a name for themselves, Bonaphied continued to grow as a musical pair and as family. Hailing from Yakima, Washington (a city of over 71,000, which is 110mi Southeast of Seattle - possessing a massive underground Hip Hop and R&B market), they independently out of the trunks of their cars sold over 1,500 first release LP’s, locally. As the noise surrounding their talent expanded, so did their local sales. By the time of their second independent release, which brought them an acquisition of 2,500 purchases, they become even more known in their city. Their most recent effort, while still performing in clubs, opening up for major artists and maintaining day jobs (working in a youth orphanage) brought in over 4000 copies sold. Total independent unit sales were 8,000 copies sold, which is over a tenth of the whole city.Describing their music as a blend of soulful R&B layered with Hip Hop lyrics and often a differentiating selection of tracks, one of their main objectives in making music is remaining true to the art form, and creating a sound that everyone of various preferential genres of music can find common ground in. They have opened up for artists such as Snoop Dogg, G-Unit, DJ Quik, E-40, DJ Unk, Baby Bash, Young Buck, Too Short, Lil’ Rob, and many more. With no help from promotion companies, distribution labels or major labels, Bonaphied has made their presence on MySpace.com by bringing in over 27,000 total plays, averaging 120 plays per day, supported by an online fan base more than 6800 since 2005. They had the 1 song in the “Song of the Month†Contest sponsored in Houston, TX not long ago, and they continue to be scouted by major labels for the next step of taking them national and international.
