About Me

HAVEN
Out 4th November 2008 on Moribund Records

Misery Machine Necronoclast unleashes his third album, the darker and more damned Haven. With this despair, Necronoclast designs a more varied sound palette, incorporating bittersweet melody into an alternately more funereal base. The malnourished melancholy of classic-era Katatonia swallowed in a vintage Leviathan black hole! Step into this Haven and drown!

"This band is almost genre-altering..." - Absolute Zero zine
"A blistering stigmata of suicidal black metal blending the likes of Xasthur with more melodic fare found in Katatonia and Opeth" - Explicitly Intense

The Plague
(Released 20th November 2007 on Moribund Records)

The “one-man black metal band” trend may be alive and well with most folks, an erroneous and felonious conception of “black metal” that’s seemingly perpetuated only because its standards are never challenged. Although such isolation is paramount in summoning blackened energy, more often than not such “bands” are nothing more than recreation for misguided, validation-seeking plebeians.

Not so with THE MORIBUND CULT, who introduced the world at large to the revolutionary sounds of Judas Iscariot during the 1990s. During this present decade, MORIBUND had a hand in bringing current scene kings Leviathan, Xasthur, and Krohm to greater prominence in the underground and above, and once again THE CULT exercises astute judgment in introducing yet another visionary isolationist: Scotland’s NECRONOCLAST, and second album The Plague

NECRONOCLAST’s debut for THE CULT, The Plague is a drifting, shape-shifting work of mesmerizing black metal. With deceptive(ly deadly) ease, NECRONOCLAST creates horrific, nightmarish visions through some of the most sorrowful black metal ever created. Appropriately titled, The Plague oozes into the listener’s subconscious via violent mood swings in tempo and texture, depressively hypnotic melodies and dissonant passages, and vocals that are truly being tortured into infinity.

Hailing from Scotland, NECRONOCLAST was conceived in the depths of Autumn 2003. NECRONOCLAST is deliberately a solo project, with roots in the realms of early Burzum and mid-period Katatonia, but concertedly with its own vibe and aesthetic. NECRONOCLAST is all about negative atmosphere, capturing an entrancing sense of dread and foreboding. The moniker "NECRONOCLAST" refers to a rejection of religious principles, and a fear and worship of the dead.

NECRONOCLAST's early years were spent working on several demo recordings, and culminated with the recording of first album Monument, which was completed in 2006 and released in the Spring of 2007 by Korean label Infernal Kaos Productions.

After completing work on Monument, NECRONOCLAST began writing music for the second album, The Plague, the recording of which was completed in May 2007. Following a strong response to Monument, NECRONOCLAST signed to THE MORIBUND CULT, the first step being the upcoming release of The Plague. A full re-release of Monument is to follow.

Meanwhile, new nightmares are forming, for both musician but especially listener.... “Suicidal black metal” has a new master, and its name is NECRONOCLAST!
