Echidna ['ekhidna]: She-Viper. Legendary creature of the Greek Mythology, mate of Typhon. She was half a woman and half a serpent and gave birth to many mythological monsters (Nemean Lion, Cerberus, Chimera, Sphinx, Hydra, Medusa, Orthrus, Ladon and many others.)
Biography:
On October of 2004 the colleagues Giannis (drums), Nikos P. (guitars) and Panos (guitars) decide to form a band. The band is named Echidna. Before the summer of 2005 Nikos M. (bass) and Theo (vocals) join them and they all together start working on their own songs.
On 3 July 2006 they release their first demo entitled This Suffering which was favourably reviewed (check the reviews section on the official website). Zero Tolerance (UK) magazine awarded them the Demo of the Issue (September/October 2006) among 20 demos all over Europe and Metal Hammer (GR) magazine awarded them the Demo of the Month (July 2007). In the meantime Echidna participate in many live shows either underground or supporting famous bands such as Sarissa, Tankard, Cynic…
Currently the band are recording their debut album! While This Suffering is mostly a thrash metal cd with mixed elements from other styles like death, heavy and progressive metal, the band’s new material is away less “old-school thrashâ€. It is something like death metal but always keeping the personal sound of Echidna and with signs that show the band’s will to experiment.
