Born July, 25th 1986 in St. Louis, MO Corey Holmes A.K.A Gangsta Gritz,
found hip hop through the guidance of NWA, Ghetto Boys, and Public Enemy.
Without a father present in the household Gritz turned to the streets and music to raise him. Soon it was Rap City, Fab 5 Freddy and late nights of Yo
MTV Raps that influenced Gritz to using the craft of hip hop As he grew older violence became a more prominent force around him, and dreams of playing football faded and friends became distant memories. So Gritz began studying the art of Notorious B.I.G, 2 Pac, No Limit, Big Pun, and Jay-Z so that he could perfect his craft, in doing so Gritz became an honor student of the game.By the age of 17 Gritz was known in the underground circuit for battling. Any one that wanted to test the waters was allowed to swim, but while winning battle after battle and gaining a growing respect from the streets Gritz became an underground legend. It was making the transition from the battle scene to making real songs that has held Gritz back from his ultimate goal of being a great MC.In 2004 Gritz connected back with his old high school friend Alandon Pitts A.K.A ICU, who introduced him to Cornell Bell, A.K.A Teff D, and these three formed the Koalition. With the Guidance from ICU in 2005 one of the greatest mix tapes hit the streets “The Damage is Done. With aggressive lyrics that make you say “did he just say that†Gritz brought back the pure art of just being able to rhyme, no hooks no bridges just crazy lyrics to captivate the audience. Soon this mixtape blazed the streets and was deemed a hood classic. But the question still remained what about real songs? In 2006 “Jump Fresh†a witty yet lyrical single was released by the Koalition. This song was performed all over St. Louis. It wasn’t until Chingy held a talent show case called the Gong Show did Gritz taste the spotlight of the music industry. The Koaltion won the Gong Show and received radio play of “Jump Fresh†on 100.3 the beat. However still feeling overlooked by the industry Gritz went back to the studio and worked on his second mixtape. “MURDA LOU†This mix-tape will be released in Fall of 07 which includes THE SMASH HIT SINGLE 80's BABY!!! as well as the street classic D-Boy. In D-Boy Gritz shows his ability of commanding mic presence, word play, and a vivid description of St. Louis street life.Gritz will not just stop there he wants to broaden his horizon in the music industry as well as experience entrepreneurship in business ventures. He will not stop till he is mentioned in the same sentence as those that he studied when he was younger. Hip hop is not how it use to be but in 2007, St. Louis will be introduced to one of Hip Hop’s Saviors. Gangsta Gritz A.K.A The King of The Streets
