I’m Brandon Garvey and this year I will be a Jr. at Morehead State University. If you know anything about me what so ever you know a few things; my family is the most important thing in my life, cheerleading is one of my greatest passions, and I love working with kids. Like I said before, I’m going to school at Morehead where here in about two in a half or three years I will graduate with two degrees; one in elementary education and another in special education (Learning Disabilities). There is no greater feeling in the world than seeing a child’s face light up when they learn something or get something they never thought they could do. Although I haven’t started teaching yet, I have taught gymnastics from about six years now. That is how I first figure out what I wanted to do with my life, teach.
My other passion is really the reason I chose Morehead to begin with. In college cheerleading there are three power house programs; University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, and last but not least Morehead State University. Now these aren’t the only ones but they are looked at as the best, so I guess you could conclude that the state of Kentucky has the best college cheerleading programs out there. Morehead is a little bit different than the other two, we currently hold the most national titles at 19 total and we have won eight in a row. No other program can say those to things, and hopefully we can make it 20 this year and let the tradition keep going. HEAD HEAD AND MOREHEAD!!!!!
Last but not least my family, they are hands down the most important thing in my life and I don’t know what I would do without them. My parents are my heroes, I wouldn’t be able to do any of the things I can and have the privilege of doing with my life. My parents have always pushed me to be my best and that’s what I’m trying to do. My older sister cheered at NKU, which is probably the best small coed team out there three rings in four years, and also is in nursing school and got a 4.0 last year. I don’t know how she does it but she is incredible. My little sister, although we but heads at least once a day lol, I have never found someone that is more God loving than here. If you can look past the temper that comes with being a red head she is always trying to keep her friends on the right path and I respect her so much for that.
About a couple years ago I lost my brother. It was very hard at first but time heals all wounds. He didn’t always do the right thing but he never let me do the wrong thing which I love him for that. I told him so many things that I wanted to do and I haven’t completed all of them yet. I know he always loved watching over us, now he has the best seat in the house. It’s going to be a big year for me this year as far as school and cheerleading goes so I’ll remember to keep you posted big brother although I know you will already know.RIP BIG BROTHER......
