review by the wonderful Natasha Scharf.
KO Kaine have both wit and talent. They also prove Wakefield isn't just a miserable old industrial city that's better known for its church choirs than Hammer- friendly tunage. Unlike a number of other british hard-core bands - Ghost of a thousand included- these yorkshire boys prefer to leave the "ee-by-glum" in favour of some good old fashioned sleaze.
K.O.KAINE mix screamo with melodic rock and some gloriously self-indulgent Motorhead-esque riffage. at times they sound like Fear Factory and at others, more like Cancer bats- an odd mixture that is suprisingly palatable and always unpretentious. And quite frankly any band that lists Motley Crue, deftones and Danzig among their favourite bands is just begging to be heard.
“Play To Ghosts†is an album chock full of devilish grooves and great individual performances and musically it’s modern and deserves the tag of contemporary metal. It’s an album that deserves the description of “all killers and no fillers†and the band can feel justly proud of their newest creation 7/10 hardrockhouse.com
