Create Your Own!Dennis Edward Kanke, of Saginaw, Minn., formerly of Cedar Rapids and Van Horne, Iowa, passed away Aug. 5, 2004. He was born Oct. 3, 1949 in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967. Dennis was a Vietnam veteran having served in the Marine Corps from 1968-1972. He was active in the Vietnam P.O.W./M.I.A., VFW, North Vets Association. Dennis had many interests, including photography, boating, fishing and especially spoiling his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Irene Kanke. Dennis is survived by his wife of six years, Carol; children, Chad Allen Kanke of Watkins, Iowa, Jennifer (Shai) Skalsky of Ely, Iowa, Melissa (Roger) Pavlovec, Jessica and Patricia Kanke, all of Minn.; stepchildren, Melaine Kimber, Stephaine Cain and Billy Cain of Minnesota,Donald (April) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Faye of Texas; brothers, Gordon of Hartley, Iowa, Richard of Dania Beach, Fla.; sisters, Karen James of Vilas, N.C., Jean Norton of Hartley, Iowa; nine grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. MEMORIAL SERVICE:12 noon Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at the Vietnam Memorial on the Lakewalk in Duluth. A second memorial service will be held at Phillip’s Funeral Home in Keystone, Iowa, Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 at 2 p.m. Services by Rev. Norm Bennett. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to American Disabled Veterans or charity of choice. RIP DADDY I MISS AND LOVE YOU!
