Professor Jeff is Jeff Wood hailing from the great state of New Mexico. At 33 years old Jeff has a long history of interest in music. "I had a kid’s phonograph at age 5. I remember acting like I was napping in my room and after my parents closed the door I would get up and play my Sesame Street, G.I. Joe, and Disney records!" At the tender age of fifteen he followed some advice from his dad and applied for a DJ position at a Gospel AM station... He got the job and Jeff had found his calling: mixing boards, headphones, CD decks, two turntables and a microphone. In 1994 Jeff moved to Jacksonville, FL. He fell in love with Florida's urban break-beat style. Jeff met an up and coming local DJ named Jim Rachenbach. Jim took Jeff under his wing and he started picking up house records. After moving back to the southwest, in 1999 Jeff bought a used sound system and started throwing renegade parties on some family owned desert property. Professor Jeff has held residency at The Martini Grill, Brews and Beats, Smackdown, ARES Nation, ReBar, Club Static... He has also been a guest DJ at dozens of different hot spots from California to Florida including Level Three in YBOR City (Tampa), The Lingba Lounge in San Francisco, and The Santa Fe Lodge. Jeff has shared the stage with the likes of Nigel Richards, 13 Moontribe, Donald Glaude, Doc Martin, and many others. Jeff has entertained high profile guests such as Christopher Walken, Selma Hayek, and Alicia Silverstone, in private party settings. "The Professor" is known for mixing every style of music into a continuous flow of expression from every genre. In the studio, he produces tracks that range from Trip Hop, Deep House, Electro Breaks, Speed Garage, and Drum and Bass; as well as remixes of popular songs. Besides the dance music scene Jeff has experience in wedding receptions, birthdays, corporate parties, holiday celebrations, and Latin Jump-off. He has performed at numerous gallery openings for D.S Canning Photography. As resident DJ at Houlihan’s Bar and Grille in W. Kissimmee, FL, he entertained a mixed crowd with a full range of styles: Classic rock, Indy rock, RnB, Top 40, 80’s 90’s, Reggaeton, Disney kid’s hits, old and new Country, Industrial/Goth, Spanish dance/Salsa… something to satisfy every request. He is currently contracted with Veypurr Fashion Design as the DJ for all of their runway shows. On the technical side of show-pro he has wired anywhere from 500watt to 50,000watt stage systems. He owns a 5000watt PA system with 2 Technics 1200 MK2’s, a Technics SL-DZ1200 (CD Deck), Pioneer DJM600, Pioneer CDJ200, Pioneer HDJ-1000 (headphones). “I am an entertainer, not just a DJ. I can figure out what my crowd wants to hear, and keep them moving. I’m not afraid to be an Emcee, or come out from behind the decks and dance with the people.
