The Motion

About Me

I made my myspace layout using Pimp-My-Profile.com

Hailing from Central Scotland,The Motion produce powerful guitar driven indie rock n roll, with anthemic sing-along choruses.Front man & co-song writer James Dick was once the singer/songwriter for Cousins Lane & is no stranger to the live music scene. Together with brother, Bassist & co-songwriter - George, ( formerly Chase & Sinecure ) discussions began with Darrell Latimer (Chase) to recruit other band members & produce a sound that appealed to the revelers of the local scene. After almost 3 years of playing all over the UK headlining their own shows & doing gigs with Proud Mary, Space, Tom Hingley & The View, to name a few the band are heading back into the rehearsal rooms for the early part of 2007 to write new material & also get back into the studio to record & master some more tracks for the demo sessions.Working closely with promoter Tom Wilson of Standalone Management ( formerly Charlatans - Making Time, Stone Roses, Shed Seven & 18 Wheeler), the band have adopted the willingness to play any venue with a view to gaining as much exposure as possible. With huge aspirations & a very focused ambition for the future, the band are currently rehearsing new & old material with a view to generating record label interest.

Band Members: Vocals/Guitar/Harmonica: James DickGuitar/Vocals: Darrell LatimerLead Guitar/Vocals: Andy McDonaldBass/Vocals: George DickDrums/Percussion: Chris Taylor
Influences: We're into stuff like the Rolling Stones, the Band, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Charlatans, Ocean Colour Scene, Otis Redding, Martha Reeves, Sam Cooke, Oasis, Flying Burrito Brothers, Buffalo Springfield, Proud Mary, The Beatles, The Kinks, Paul Weller, Spencer Davis Group, Richard Ashcroft, John Lennon, U2, Van Morrison, The Stone Roses & a whole load of other artists. They're all good man, but we're doing our own thing. We're just playing good old innocent, organic guitar music. We love whats came before us & its inspired us to pick the guitar in the first place - but thats all it is... inspiration & a platform to build on. Keep The Faith!
Sounds Like: Its kind of hard to pin point what we sound like. We've been likened to Ocean Colour Scene, Rolling Stones, oasis & a few other bands. We try to sum it up as indie rock n roll with good singalong choruses.
