Always striving to achieve greater potential and leave a positive mark on the world. A business woman, a professor, a thinker, a feeler, a romantic, a dreamer and doer. Writing is my passion. I'm an Orlando resident who hates theme parks. I'm a Florida native that only goes to the beach a few times a year. So I guess that makes me somewhat of a residential paradox. Love to travel to places I've never been before, discover the culture, contemplate the deeper meaning of life while taking it all in, then bring it to life in poetry or journal. Drawn to lively conversation, live sporting events, interesting people, culture, music, art and architecture like a magnet. I'm old world, not "old school." Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mom and my drum kit the most. I'm happiest when I'm creating something. If you're one of my almost 700 friends it's because I don't believe in being a myspace snob. If you're one of my top 24 it's because I know you personally. Oh, and I am a college professor so if you'd like to correspond (let me clarify, if you want me to respond), try avoiding standard pickup line verbage and please use spell and grammar check before clicking the send button.
Some of my favorite quotes:
"There is a difference between one and another hour of life, in their authority and subsequent effect. Our faith comes in moments; our vice is habitual. Yet there is a depth in those brief moments which constrains us to ascribe more reality to them than to all other experiences." - Emerson "The Over-Soul"
"The key to every man is his thought. Sturdy and defying though he look, he has a helm which he obeys, which is the idea after which all his facts are classified. He can only be reformed by showing him a new idea which commands his own. " - Emerson "Circles"
"Valor consists in the power of self-recovery, so that a man cannot have his flank turned, cannot be out-generalled, but put him where you will, he stands. This can only be by his preferring truth to his past apprehension of truth; and his alert acceptance of it, from whatever quarter; the intrepid conviction that his laws, his relations to society, ...his world, may at any time be superseded and decease." - Emerson "Circles"
"The one thing which we seek with insatiable desire is to forget ourselves, to be surprised out of our propriety, to lose our sempiternal memory, and to do something without knowing how or why; in short, to draw a new circle. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. The way of life is wonderful: it is by abandonment. The great moments of history are the facilities of performance through the strength of ideas, as the works of genius and religion. "A man," said Oliver Cromwell, "never rises so high as when he knows not whither he is going." - Emerson "Circles"
"Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each." -Henry David Thoreau
"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau
"If you would convince a man that he does wrong, do right. But do not care to convince him. Men will believe what they see. Let them see." - Henry David Thoreau
