I like a good tune as much as the next person. I play the old banjo meself a bit. A Formal Sigh, Shiny Two Shiny, Benny Profane. Made a lot of friends, a tiny bit of money, had a lot of fun, travelled to faraway places. Darlings of John Peel the lot. No regrets apart from an uncanny ability to locate collapsing record companies. Believe in dreams. I did my first Peel session 15 months after starting to play the guitar. I was the worst guitarist in the world but I had/have good ears. When you write a song, imagine Mark E Smith sitting on your shoulder. If he says it's shit, it's shit.
