Red Storm Rising played their first and only gig as a covers band in late 2002, the original idea being to play the one set for a friends' birthday and call it a day. However, discovering they had all the ingredients for a winning rock band, they decided to stay together and pen some material of their own.Based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey , the band began rehearsing regularly in January 2003 and already possessing a wealth of live experience between them, played their first gig to a packed out West One Four in April, airing songs that would form the basis of their first mini-album ‘Where Is It'.RSR have since been gigging relentlessly and writing new material with designs on attracting some industry attention and expanding their fan-base. Work began in summer 2004 on their next release ‘Time Of The Month'. While the album showcased some of RSR's catchiest songs it was decided to not release the album. The band felt that with a bit of work and song writing it was worth waiting till the next year to invest a lot more money and record the album properly. And so, nearing the end of 2006 recording was completed on ‘No Excuses', the bands forthcoming 3rd album….a 13 track catchy, pumping cheese rock fest.Red Storm Rising have been described as a blend of Punk, Mod, Grunge and 80's Cock Rock, resulting in something akin to stripped down, uplifting and exhilarating skate-punk. Their live shows are some of the most powerful and energetic around, with catchy tunes that never fail to get the crowd bouncing along.
