About Me
Johnny "ROCKER" Popp started Playing Drums at a very early age, eventualy going on to major in music at the Dana School Of Music at Youngstown State University. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science, and an Associate of Applied Science degrees. Currently, Johnny is endorsed by Peace Drums and Percussion, TRX Cymbals, and DRUM STAR WEAR. He has played with many notables in the music world such as Rock-N-Roll Hall of Famers "LEFT END", and Auburn Records Recording Artist "WRETCH". Over the years, Johnny "ROCKER" Popp has appeared in Internationaly Recognized Magazines such as: "MODERN DRUMMER", "DRUM!" Magazine, "Pizzazz" Magazine (click on "PICS" to read a few of the articles), along with numerous more local magazines and newspaper articles. Over his many years slammin' the skins, he has appeared on television shows and commercials, radio, internet, and has toured most of the United States playing shows. It does not matter to him the size of the show, from a packed night club of local customers to an arena full of thousands, because he has done both, it's just the love of playing! Johnny's many years of playing have given him the honor of sharing the stage with such great national acts as Bad Company, Quiet Riot, Blue Oyster Cult, Siliva, Jackyl, The Bullet Boys, The Godz, Ron Keel, Pretty Boy Floyd, and CC Deville from Poison to name just a few.A big turning point for Johnny is when he got to see the great Buddy Rich play live in a small night club near his home town when he was around twelve years old, and then even getting to meet him after the show. Johnny's seat was within a few mere arms length from one of the greatest drummers of all time. When he saw him there on that stage swinging those sticks at lighting speed, he just knew he wanted to be up there doing the same thing too some day!Johnny is always looking to expand his horizons. He is very adaptable to any style of music, and is quite proficient in live, studio, sessions, or any other musical situation. Johnny is hoping to find other "like minded" musicians who share his love of offering music to the world. He is currently with, and is an original member of, the band, SMACK ALICE, a Godsmack/ Alice In Chains Tribute, that also has numerous hardrockin' originals of it's own!
