About Me

Hi I'm Martin - thanks for checking out the profile! Well, it's been an interesting start for 2007 - kicking it off as resident DJ for the world's biggest Ministry of Sound in Singapore!! Not forgetting weekly parties at the official Hed Kandi bar on Clarke Quay - some amazing nights have passed!!! Met a lot of cool people both customers and icons in the industry - the club played host to some of the biggest and best in the industry too, including Axwell, Tocadisco, Tom Neville, MYNC Project, DJ Spen, Peyton, Matt Darey, John "00" Fleming, Chris Lake, Layo & Bushwacka, Tom Novy, Superchumbo and many more!!To be honest I’m not overly sure where it all started, but I’ll try and recall the sequence of events as they happened from a very young age. It’s actually apparent that when my mother was expecting me I would be going crazy inside her body at the local discos which may have contributed to the excellent ear I have for great music today…you see, good music is part of my family tree, as my dad was a full time DJ in his younger days, playing a great mix of 70s disco classics through to his main passion…soul (northern) & Motown…as any great music lover of the 60s/70s would agree, this was the sound of the best clubs all over the world. So as his marriage and fatherhood commitments grew, so saw the reduction of full time DJing as he retired early into mobile DJing (weddings, birthdays, retirements etc), of which he would take me along to with a view to exposing me to the basic art of entertaining people with. I have to say these were definitely my routes – these gigs helped me to get into shape with basic party tunes and some more specialized music from the 50s-90s, from Disco to Motown to Soul to 80s Cheese and 90s Dance/House.Fast forward to teenage youth, where I would curiously follow the commercial charts and listen to my brother’s mix tapes from the popular nightclubs he frequented in the local area…like between 1994-1998…I would appreciate all forms of commercial dance music, from D:Ream, Toni Di Bart, Byron Stingily, Alex Party, Masters at Work and Faithless to name just a very small selection!! This curiosity lead to me tuning into the regions live club nights on the radio stations across the North West of England and North Wales, which gave me an invisible insight to how DJs read capacity crowds with dance music which ultimately lead to the obsession of becoming a baseball cap bedroom dance DJ at 16.I would spend at least half of my week’s wages on Saturday afternoons at HMV buying vinyl, having convinced my parents that it was a smart move investing in some Technics1210s for me to practice on. My earlier vinyl collecting hobby was focused on buying euphoric trance, before moving with the times and playing hip hop / RnB for another 18 months. However I eventually realized that my main passion and “goal” lay with house music…which is what you can catch me playing right now! After getting a “leg up” with an old friend into doing a couple of commercial venues in my home town aged 19, which were owned by Luminar Leisure, I was soon recognized for my blinding sets and was used in more than 10 of the regions best clubs, (all ran by Luminar), which included legendary hotspots at the time such as "Tivoli" in Buckley, "Broadway Boulevard" in Llandudno, "Gregorys" in Nantwich, "Fusion" in Workington, "Bliss" in Southport "WS1" in Walsall to name just a few! As any DJ will agree, knowing your stuff is important, but knowing the right people in the business is so much more important!! After various networking solutions and meeting and greeting I was soon playing clubs all over the UK, up and down the map and in just four years have toured in other countries, including Abu Dhabi, Detroit, Ibiza and Puerto Banus, working with some great club tours and big names in the industry from Brandon Block to HED KANDI, to Abigail Bailey to Peyton to DJ Spen to Ministry of Sound. As well as all this I am no stranger to radio presenting...having worked with the radio city crew in Liverpool, Coast 96.3 in Wales as well as live shows for Dance Club Cam (Detroit).2007 has already got off to a healthy start with me playing most of my sets in Birmingham, Liverpool and some in Manchester, as well as regular spots in Chester and North Wales. Gigs to look forward to over the summer include Marbella, New York, Ibiza & Sweden! I will keep you posted...thanks for reading!!!!!!!See you on the dance floor folks, if there’s any room left on it…....
