The Palace Flophouse

About Me

Our new album Try Not to Get Worried is available for free download in the 'sounds like' section of this page!
The Palace Flophouse started as the solo project of Bradley Bergstrand. He has since added mainstays Nathan Fry, Gretchen Shaw, Christopher Edison and Asa Dawson, as well as various other musicians. Many have frequently appeared on the band’s previous projects, which consist of the lo-fi full-length “Yesterday was Fun!” and a split EP with the band “The November Story.” The Palace Flophouse’s current release, “Try Not to Get Worried,” is highlighted by unique, mixed-gender harmonies over energetic acoustic guitar. The band’s lyrics are literal, meaningful, original and engagingly narrative. The rhythm section is immediately essential, giving the tracks depth and edge and allowing the band to flex emotionally. The Palace Flophouse consists of a folk musician who has surrounded himself on all sides with talented musicians, giving the initially straightforward sound a slew of layers and versatility.

Sounds Like:

"They are melody driven songs that are just easy to listen to. Fun at times and charming... they manage to make you stop from your busy day and actually calm you and you realize that life is pretty dang good." Bored and Beats

"I hear the sweetness of The Shins and the manic energy of The Mountain Goats." Sixeyes

"The main draws are the warm acoustic guitar playing and the sincerely tender vocals. Then the occasional xylophone, piano, or miscellaneous percussive instrument comes in and makes the music all the more effective at charming your soul." Radio KRUD

"As of right now, they are an up-and-coming band traveling around the Lincoln’s country in the midwest. You have to appreciate the organic process. Plus, they are just plain good." The Audio Muffin
