About Me

In the Lord’s year of 2000 Kristoffer Johansson, Mats With Greger and Ulrik Christensen met. Three young boys with long hair and a common vision; to make fresh and modern rock’n’roll. The three young boys shared the hope of getting far, had partly the same sources of inspiration, and what the artistic aspects concerned, a clear vision to not step aside for what they believed in. The contempt for mathematical symmetric academician music and political rock, as well as the fascination for improvised and expressional music, formed the foundation for a pompous and almost burlesque expression, where the so-called jamming became important. And so became these the characteristics of the different sources of inspiration, whether from the island north-west of France or The States, an important part of the band that were formed. The inspiration was music, the hope was the force, and Royal Riot was established. October 2004, after several years on the live scene in Norway and with the newly recorded EP Don’t Let The Lemon Down in the sleeve, the band packed their underwear and guitars and got on the plane to London. The band quickly played their way through several important venues, and did among other support gigs for the Prodigy-legend Keith Flint and his new project Clever Brains Fryin’. As well as receiving attention in mediums such as Camden New Journal and Indie Spin, the band got a 4-page article in Norway’s biggest newspaper Verdens Gang. “Norwegian rock'n roll combo that is doing good at the London circuit - These guys are a bunch of mad Norwegians that we saw play at another East London gig recently that won a place in our hearts. More Turbonegro than Madrugada, with their long hair and longer scarves they are as loud as they are confident – and believe us when we say they were very loud. Rocky, Retro and Raucous, they are great entertainment and well worth watching.” Indie Spin The fall of 2006, the band is back in London after a year in Oslo (N), where the band has spent their time well playing support gigs for Cadillac and Knut Schreiner’s (Turbonegro) Euroboys, as well as getting a slot on the Zoom Tour 2006 with air time on national radio (P3). In addition to gigging, the band has spent their time in various studios, respectively Athletic Sound (Motorphsyco, Madrugada, We, Bigbang, and Amulet) in Halden (N) and Lennon Studios in Liverpool. The new material has already prior it’s release given the band a good goodbye in their home country and a good start across the North Sea.
