Did you know that being caught with a joint could result in losing your financial aid, while murderers and rapists are still able to receive money to go to school?
Luckily, the U.S. Senate committee that handles education issues will be debating whether to keep or overturn the aid elimination penalty THIS WEEK!
And you can help!!! Here are three easy ways...
1) MAKE A CALL:
If you live in one of the states represented by the senate HELP committee, please take a minute to call your senator and tell them what you think. Below is a video that shows you how easy it is to make the call. The HELP committee states are:
Alaska; Colorado; Connecticut; Georgia; Illinois; Iowa; Kansas; Maryland; Massachusetts; New Hampshire; New Mexico; New York; North Carolina; Ohio; Rhode Island; Tennessee; Utah; Vermont; Washington; Wyoming. If you don't live in one of these states, proceed to STEP TWO below.
Now watch SSDP's outreach director, Jake Roland, show you how easy it is to make a call to Capitol Hill:
See? It's that easy. So if you live in one of those states listed above, take a minute to CLICK HERE , and it will provide you with your senator's name, phone number, and a script of what to say.
2) SEND AN E-MAIL:
Regardless of what state you live in, you can quickly send a pre-written e-mail to your senator through our online action center.
All you have to do is CLICK HERE and enter your contact info.
3) SPREAD THE WORD:
Now that you've taken action, make sure your friends do the same.
Thank you for taking action during this important week. Together, we can ensure that hundreds of thousands of students get their financial aid back!

"However," the professor continued, "there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative."
Immediately, a voice from the back of the room piped up: "Yeah... right..."
