Open Season

About Me

HERE WE GO!
Open Season is back with a new album after three years! Cleverly worked out songs between reggae, ska and dancehall. A deep sound with roots and soul redefined by modern standards. Featured guest appearances by Nega (Switzerland) and Pops Jabu (Denmark). The most successful and best reggae/ska band from Switzerland keeps up with the times - what lasts is the explosive live show: they rock on stage, on the current tour just about everywhere in Switzerland!
As anticipated by the two preceding singles 'Step by Step' and 'I Lost My Phone', 'Here We Go' sounds different... and good! The thirteen songs of the new album are produced with loving attention to detail and they are innovative, groovy, absorbing and new. Without losing sight of the offbeat, Open Season nonchalantly shows that genre boundaries don't have to be restrictive at all - the songs range from melancholic reggae ballads and modern ska to dancehall killer tracks and dub epos. The sounds are enriched with subtle electronics and unusual acoustic sounds - recorded and produced for nights on end of refinement at the Bernese Studio Douze, directed by KG.
C’est pour les gens qui sont ouverts d’esprit, tu vois...?

ABOUT THE BAND:
Keep My Fire Burning… In only a few years, the band has emerged from the suburbs of Bern to the best clubs in Switzerland, to Europe’s big cities and to the rotation of the national radio stations. With their absolute passion for music, untiring touring and eight releases by now, they bring fire to the dancehalls of places even far away from Switzerland. Open Season cheers you up with groovy Reggae, Rock Steady and Ska and a deep fat bass to dance the night away.
ABOUT THE MUSIC:
First of all, bass – lots of bass, that makes your belly dance. Open Season have got their very own sound which goes from traditional ska and rocksteady to reggae and dancehall. Bubbling organ, jazzy horns, the charismatic voice of the lead singer and ingenious electronic sounds... Open Season bridges sounds from the crackling of old vinyl singles to the screaming of the fanciest synthesizers.
ABOUT THE SHOWS:
Open Season has played about 400 concerts so far and is now Switzerland’s first choice whenever it comes to ska, rocksteady and reggae. The band has played all big festivals and the hippest Swiss clubs and they have toured Europe several times – as the opening and backing band for the pathbreaking New York artists Victor Rice and King Django, among others. Open Season played at the official German music showcase Popkomm in 2007.
„When I think of the energy and the message they bring to every stage, I know that it is the live audience of Open Season that is the luckiest“ (Victor Rice).
