Biography
Journey South are brothers Carl, 24, and Andy Pemberton, 29, from Middlesbrough. It was Carl who started singing and playing gigs when older Andy decided to join him so they formed a duo. They come from a close-knit family who have supported them all the way.
Five years ago, Andy quit his job and Carl quit his plumbing apprenticeship despite being only three months from the end of it. The charged a caravan to their credit card and set off for London. It was at this point they changed their name to Journey South, as that was exactly what they intended to do.
The X Factor
In 2005 they went to an audition for the second series of The X Factor. They wowed the judges and three yes's (Carl's favourite moment of the year) got them in. Their category, the Groups, were allocated to Simon Cowell who became both friend and mentor to Journey South, and describes them as "the nicest people [he has] ever met".
On Saturday 17th December 2005, Journey South came third in The X Factor. Both boys said that it meant "everything" to be in the finals of The X Factor and how proud they are to have their family watch them live on stage!
Just before Christmas, Journey South signed the record contract that they deserved. They recieved offers from an amazing five record companies and eventually chose the one they felt most comfortable with - Syco Music on Simon Cowell's label.
The Album
The debut album, JOURNEY SOUTH, was released on Monday 20th March. It recieved great reviews and shot straight to number one on Mothers Day, with Andy Abraham's (X Factor 2nd place) debut album entering at two.

The Debut Single - The Circle/Desperado
On Monday 19th June, the long awaited debut single will be released!
Taken from their self-titled album, which has already sold over half a million copies, the boys release the double A-Side The Circle/Desperado.
The Circle is a cover version of Ocean Colour Scene's classic and it is one of the boys' favourites. Carl also plays acoustic guitar on the track.
Andy and Carl also cover The Eagles' Desperado, which was a favourite among all three judges on the X-Factor. A rare feat indeed.
The single also includes live versions of First Time I Ever Saw Your Face and Candle In The Wind recorded on The X-Factor. Don't forget to buy it!
UK Tour
Having received an amazing response on the live tour of X Factor, Andy and Carl are all set to hit the road again with their first solo UK tour. They will be touring across the UK, performing in a total of 22 venues, during September and October, concluding with a date in their hometown of Middlesbrough on 15th October. Check out the blog for a full list of venues and dates.
Carl says, 'Our album has just come out which we're really proud of, and then to announce our first headline tour is another dream come true. We're having a great time at the moment and just enjoying every minute.'
