NOW ON iTUNES!!!
We made noise with people who made music with people who are famous.
The 'band' is:Guitarist, singer & songwriter, Jett has toured nationally as lead guitarist for Bebo Norman (Essential Records), performed in Sweden and the U.S. with pop artist Rachel Lampa (Word/Curb/Warner Brothers), recorded with Garett Buell (Caedmon’s Call) and many others. His first EP, ‘fragment’ was released in 2002. He has had numerous bands in Houston, Dallas, College Station and Lubbock.
Percussionist and drummer Garett Buell is an original and founding member of Caedmon’s Call (Essential Records) who have been recording and performing around the world since the early nineties, selling over a million records. Garett has worked with India Arie, David Wilcox, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir (on an album which received a Grammy) and many others. Garett and Jett have been making back room tapes, demos and nonsense together for years.
Jett rediscovered Pianist Edward Hobizal by random in Austin after first meeting him nearly 17 years ago in Houston. Ed released “Anamnesis” last year, a record the Austin Chronicle wrote “hasn’t been a local jazz release quite like this one in terms of refinement and grace.” John Ailee of KUT named it as one his favorite records of 2005. Ed has performed with Sarah Hickman, Slaid Cleaves, Shawn Colvin, Ian Moore, and many others. He took third place in the Prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition when he was only 17.
Bassist Mark Polack and Jett met on Bebo Norman's Big Blue Sky tour. He has performed and recorded with Shane Fontayne (Sting), Jay Bellerose (Paula Cole), Kenny Logins, and many others. He is a veteran of the Nashville recording and touring circuit where he currently resides with his wife Carolyn who also sang on the record. Mark is a consummate musician and multi instrumentalist who tours, records, produces and writes in a number of genres and also taught Jett the proper chords for “Blackbird” and “Fragile” somewhere in Alabama.
The album features appearances by: Ian Fitchuk (Tommy Sims, Glen Philips, Griffin House) on melotron. Alli Rogers (www.allirogers.com), Charlene Ava (Adrian Belew, Kevin Max, Marcus Hummon), and Carolyn Polack sing duets.

Influences: too numerous too list. here's who I'm loving at the moment:I live for Sigur Ros, Elbow, Mum, Doves, and obscure artists like Tunng or Hanne Hukkelberg, folks on the leaf label like Efterklang and Caribou and Triosk. Can't get enough of Imogen Heap's record at the moment, or Feist, or anything Wilco records. I’m a devoted fan of John Coltrane and Edward Hobizal, Bjork. I’m positive that Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” is one of the finest records ever, and Paul McCartney’s first solo album should be in everyones catalogue. Honestly though, I could write a book on musical influences and leave someone out, so....
Sounds Like: we're taking suggestions.

Elbow = Genius

"The Seldom Seen Kid" is probably (or will probably be) one of the best records released this year (because IN_RAINBOWS came out in 2007), and very few people in this country are likely to know about ...

Crushed Stars, new record.

Anxiously, I await a copy of the new Crushed Stars record. I don't know if I'm getting an advance copy, or if the official street date got past me. Either way should have it this week. Moot point I th...

rainbow box

In Rainbows Disc Box came today. Nothing could possible be a better Christmas gift. What a delight to hear this on vinyl. Alternatively, current royalties for iTunes sales almost covered the cost of t...

There is no more music in Paris.

10 Days in Paris. Street Buskers? 2, old school, with accordions. 1 clarinet trio on an RER train {rush hour no less}. One a cappella rastafarian, that I'm not convinced wasn't working out a politica...

records I worked on for nice folks

So, two records are out that I parcitipated in the making of in small ways. Namely, with my guitar, as a session player. Guitar for hire I suppose. The most recent release is the new full length album...

friendly fire shows that misery is a butterfly

Just purchased the new record from Sean Lennon. It's not only great, it's fantastic to hear someone resonate with John Lennon influence. He has the right to sound like his father and not be a knock of...

3 recent shows

A few days apart, I recently had a chance to see 3 very different bands. Man, what you learn from catching folks on a very small stage, with good seats and perfect sound. I won't tell you where (all t...

To all of the geniuses.

I met Gerry Leonard. Who you say? There are albums I love that often I'm aware are dependent on the most subtle nuances in tonality of guitar, obscurity, and subtle taste in the backline. It's not to ...

one hit wonders

I hate "one hit wonder" lists. Here's why: just because an artist is no longer performing in the top of the pop charts, doesn't mean they aren't creating work of value, or perhaps work better than tha...
