&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Did you know that there are over 70 sextillion stars in the known universe? Thats 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. Thats a lot of stars. Also...Did you know that our galaxy (The Milky Way) will most likely collide and coalesce with our closest neighbouring galaxy, Andromeda? They are currently speeding toward each other at approx. 300km a second, due to gravitational attraction. Lucky for us, we probably wont be around when this happens some 4 billion years from now. What's even crazier about that is that because the distances in the universe are so vast, the stars in the two galaxies will rarely collide when they come together. To give you an idea of the distances I speak of, you need to know how they are measured. The universe is measured in light-years, and 1 light-year = approx. 9,460,528,404,879km. Our own Milky Way galaxy is approx. 80,000 to 100,000 light-years in diameter. That would translate roughly into 851,447,556,439,110,000km. It really makes you think about how insignificant us humans really are relative to the vastness of what we call the Universe. Screw science fiction...Real life's much weirder.
