On the 11th of December, a rough 5000 austrlians gathered on the cronulla beaches, in retaliation to the life guard bashing in the previous week. It began as a party, like Australia day had arrived. Aussie flags and barbeques and drinking was everywhere. A 23-year-old man was injured in the attacks. RIOT police arrested 10 people in the southern beachside suburb of Brighton-le-Sands to control groups of brawling youths who threw projectiles at police. CALM has descended on Cronulla, but 12 people were arrested in the wake of yesterday's violence. FIVE police were injured when the mob turned on them. TWO paramedics were injured as they tried to rescue a group of people from the Cronulla Surf Lifesaving Club, where they had fled to escape the violence. POLICE, who used capsicum spray and batons in their battle to subdue the rioters, were also pelted with beer bottles. ***
