OK. i got into photography in the early 80s, then worked in photojournalism for 12 years because it was the most plausible way to make a living in photo, then left for grad school (which was part of the long-term plan, anyway) so i could teach art photo at the college level. highlights: almost got a pulitzer (made the top three, but not ..1)so that's the end of professional life as we know it.personally, i love roaming the countryside and seeing how different communitites have developed over the past century. a good look at the local architecture and town layout can tell a lot. highlights: one day, and this is no joke, while driving through western kentucky, i hit a worm with my car -- with the windshield! true story.really, really personally, and i don't let this out much, because it's kind of embarassing, but i'm ... i'm ... a birder. highlights: i almost saw a barn owl the other day (saturday, october 30, 2004, a date which will live...). i've seen all of the other eastern owls but two, and that's one of them. we walked into an abandoned cotton gin, and this dipshit worthless pal of mine saw it as it flew past but didn't have the decency to fall flat on his face in the mounds of barfed up bones and fur so i could see it, too. bastard. and, by the way, it meant absolutely nothing to him...as for personality, well, i'm the nicest sarcastic S.O.B. i know.
