Devin Bing is a singer/songwriter solo artist who is driven by his deep passion for music. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Devin was eager to involve himself in the entertainment industry. At the young age of five, he began child modeling and acting for well-known companies such as K-Mart and Hasbro Toys. Knowing that Devin possessed a great deal of talent, his parents encouraged him to continue performing and decided to expose him to other forms of art. Devin quickly took an interest for rhythm and music, which led him to begin playing piano at age six. It was than that he discovered his true calling for the art of music and the performance of it.
Looking back, Devin contributes most of his growth to his parents. “You don’t choose music, it chooses you and I was born into itâ€, says Devin. After years of watching his mother perform as a cabaret singer in his father’s live theater, he picked up the ability to sing and perform. Devin’s natural vocal talents were soon recognized, as he was awarded all-state vocalist in New York.
At fifteen, Devin had begun performing in local blues clubs such as Paula Jeans. By eighteen he had headlined his own trio that toured throughout Long Island. In the midst of performing, Devin began singing on demo productions for a small hip-hop label in Amityville, NY. Devin than proceeded to attend the University of Miami’s Jazz performance program. During his time at UM, he indulged in various studio production classes and learned how to create his own music. It was through his creations that he developed his own style of music that incorporates all of his influences in Jazz, R&B, & Soul. Devin also formed his own band in Miami that played in local venues, such as CocoWalk and Jazid in South Beach.
After finishing his self-titled EP, Devin plans on attacking the industry at full force. Devin is determined to succeed and looks to sign with a label so that he can spread music that he refers to as “music for the soulâ€. Devin’s intense passion for music is felt by all those he meets and he looks forward to wherever it will take him.
