About Me

Things I adore... Listening to talkative ravens. Sipping endless cups of hot tea. Leaving random notes of appreciation for strangers for have done something appreciation-worthy. Chocolate covered peanut clusters. Being with people who don't need to have misogyny, poverty, or American inequities defined for them. Bandannas in a variety of colors. Making cookies and postcards for people I care about. Sleeping on boats. Practicing living simply. Bear the Boat Cat, and her human. Having an equal mix of time with the people I love, and time alone. Sitting on sidewalks in new cities, writing and gathering stories. Silly Putty. Fireweed. Working compulsively - some might say stubbornly - at hard physical labor. Men who identify as feminists. Being on the ocean. Hearing from the amazing Seattle people I was so privileged to get to know and work with.Things that irritate me... Finding typos and grammatical errors in books I'm enjoying. People who are unaware of the space they take up in the world - those who walk so slow down the middle of a crowded sidewalk, and those who live lives of taking, wasting, and not giving back. The idea that we all need lots of Stuff to complete our lives. Litter. People who assume I share their prejudices. Excessive use of exclamation points, writing in all capitals, and the fact that I don't know how to break this section into multiple paragraphs. Being underestimated or told I'm not tall enough/strong enough/male enough to do something.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

No one new. I'm glad to hear from old sweeties from the Ave, fishing friends, and people I actually know.

Movies:

Harold and Maude. Slam. Shawshank Redemption. Napoleon Dynamite. Stand and Deliver. O Brother Where Art Thou. Pump up the Volume. Big Fish. Office Space. Opus: A Wish for Wings that Work. Smoke Signals. Born Into Brothels.

Television:

Red Dwarf, old Muppet Shows, Six Feet Under, periodic phases of trash that I won't speak of. There's no TV on the boat, and I don't miss it.

Books:

Good Omens, Beach Music. Southern Discomfort and all things Rita Mae Brown. The Little Prince, Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Secret Life of Bees. Raised by Wolves. Memoirs of a Human Heart. All things David Sedaris. Assorted trashy detective series' and mystery novels.
