About Me

I'm jaded. Make a note of that.

I'm obsessed with all things handmade. I like computers, too. Basically, I'm a crafty geek. My list of hobbies is a mile long. I left my career as a hairstylist to go back to college. I now stay at home with my daughter. I like to spend my days crafting & creating & just being mom. I've done some "moonlighting" as an event coordinator, but my dream career is to own a business involving fiber arts. I'm a grammar nazi and a horrible waitress. I don't believe in best friends or the perfect marriage. I was raised by a musician/computer programmer & and a seamstress/secretary...I'm a bit of a hybrid. We moved a lot when I was a kid & I went to many schools. My husband is in the military (ironic, eh?). He's also a percussionist, a mechanic, handyman, fellow geek, off-road junkie, excellent source for random knowledge, and a wonderful father. According to him, I'm a kick-ass housewife.

My Interests

Crafty goodness, girlie geekiness, motherhood, good coffee, shoes, sewing & just about anything involving yarn, fashion & style, how-to & DIY, and London Alessandra.

I'd like to meet:

Dustin Diamond, Anderson Cooper, seriously.

And I hope to someday meet my little brother Jared again.

Music:

I have a weird obsession with 80s music. I love the stuff and can't get enough of it! And this stuff: The Dandy Warhols, All American Rejects, Imogen Heap, The Academy Is, Jem, The Cars, The Cure, Def Leppard, U2, Van Morrison, Green Day, Stereophonics, Portishead, Depeche Mode, Fiona Apple, Coldplay, 80s/New Wave, Old School Hip Hop, Punk, a little Jazz, Funk...basically anything thats NOT played on the radio. God Bless the iPod! And of course...Grandpa's Goodtime Fandango (my big bro's band)

Movies:

Tank Girl, The Birdcage, Hackers, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Pump up the Volume, An Officer and a Gentlemen , Urban Cowboy, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, True Romance, Antitrust, Benny and Joon, Valley Girl

Television:

*SCRUBS* I'm kind of a big fan, The Office, FOX News Channel, Invader Zim, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Muppets, Court TV, Bravo, A&E, Forensic Files, American Justice, City Confidential, New Detectives, etc., etc.

Books:

Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote

Heroes:

Martha Stewart, My Mom

I thought this day would never come...

I am now the proud owner of...well...the car I've been driving for the past 5 or so years. The final payment went out in the mail today. I'm kinda sad. I remember signing the paperwork, thinking to my...

Suburbia

I always knew my "cute" little life in the suburbs would come with a few quirks and challenges; a lawnmower at 7 a.m., some random dog pooping in my yard, bickering neighbors. Never did I imagine it w...

NEWS FLASH: Life is NOT a Competition.

This is a rant. And it's long overdue. My friends are great, and I love each and every one of them. And I know I may piss some people off, but this needs to be said. I'm a stay-at-home mom. Deal with...

Reflections

It's been a year since my husband returned from his deployment to Iraq. That day is a memory...the kind of memory that burns itself into your brain refusing to ever let you forget the impact it had on...

My First 2 Months As a Mom

London is amazing. I keep saying that if I could gaurantee all of my babies would be like her, I'd have several. She's so peaceful and pleasant, a very content little girl. She eats well and sleeps we...
