About Me

Black, was born in Manhattan May 19, 1986. Parents were not together for long after. Moved with mother, and older brother to Mt. Vernon, New York. Unfortunately, father was murdered in Jamaica four years later. This caused his mother, to play both roles raising two boys. Her main concern was, for them to get an education, and not end up in the same circumstance as their father.

Being raised by a young single mother, Black became affected by the hip-hop scene in the early 90's. This was the era of, rappers like Method Man, Lost Boyz, Notorious B.I.G, 2-Pac, and Heavy D (who was also raised in Mt. Vernon). As a youth, who was easily influenced by, the music and the lifestyle, he quickly became very fond of it. Before his mother knew it, Black was reciting various different lyrics from Notorious B.I.G's classic album, "Ready to Die". This showed that he was not only interested in the music, but how the music was made.

At the age of 10, he began jotting down lyrics of his own, that he would make after school instead of his homework. By the age of 14, rapping had become not only a hobby of Young Blacks', but a talent. He would battle any competitors up for the challenge. It was all about respect. He went from movie theatres, pool halls, shopping areas, and all local hang-outs to be recognized. Battling was fun, but he knew if he wanted this hobby to benefit his future, he'd have to become more than a rapper. He'd have to become an artist.

For about 2 years, Black took his time in making the transition from an on-the-corner, all-out freestyle battle rapper. To a slick talking, smooth, punchline, commercial artist. Gaining experience from producers, engineers, and other artists that he has worked with has helped Black grow into not only a better person, but a better businessman. He glamorized violence, as little as possible, but stressed the fact that it is a part of life in the streets today. A wide range of age groups gave him credit and wished him luck in the near future.

Black has been involved with the DJ's at Westchester Community College. Radio shows would be hosted on 88.1 FM which plays in the upper Westchester region. In 2005, Black finished up his first complete project. The Young Black, "Enough Said" mixtape. He moved over 500 copies and counting in order to get his name heard on the streets as a serious individual, with plans to make it big. Promotion became very serious to Black prior to the mixtape. He received numerous, emails and messages with requests for appearances, studio time, and beats. This pushed the young artist to move forward with the development of the crew, and his solo project.
